Ever hear of “flash mobs”? They’re spontaneous gatherings that bring people together on short notice for a brief period of time. Well, here’s your chance to join dancers and musicians for a “flash dance” – an opportunity to waltz or contra in a public place. For more on "Flash Dances" see: http://www.childgrove.org/flashdance_howto.htm

Place: Kirkwood’s Station Plaza

The shelter at Kirkwood Plaza

What makes this place special?
Station Plaza is a pedestrian mall, several restaurants, and some upscale apartments in the heart of Kirkwood, just south of the train tracks and across the street from the Train Station. Our eyes will be on a covered pavilion whose dimensions are just begging for a contra line. Anyone who’s been dancing long enough might recognize it as an urban cousin to the old Kimmswick dance floor. The rest of the place is an expansive area that’s ideal for waltzing. We’ll waltz for a bit, dance a couple contras if we have any callers, then break for dinner at one of the four places to eat (Bar Louie, Ben and Jerry’s, Kaldi’s Coffee, Sansai Japanes Grill).

Where to park / How to find us:

The closest parking lot is immediately north of the plaza, just south of the train tracks. You get to it from Kirkwood (Lindbergh) Blvd. There’s also a free parking garage just south of the plaza, on Madison Ave. Parking is free. Here’s a Map.

Alternate locations:
If our presence isn’t welcomed there, we’ll graciously leave the area for one of our Plan B locations: City Hall across the street, a small park just north of City Hall, the Train Station, or a small gazebo on E Argonne, next to the Farmers’ Market. If you have trouble locating us you can call Marina at 314.607.8786 or Greg at 618.444.4975
