Flash Dance: Waltz of the Flowers
Wednesday, September 16 , 2009, 5:30 – 8:30 pm

Ever hear of "flash mobs"? They're spontaneous gatherings that bring people together on short notice for a brief period of time. Well, here's your chance to join dancers and musicians for a "flash dance" – an opportunity to waltz or contra in a public place . For more on "Flash Dances" see: http://www.childgrove.org/flashdances/flashdance_howto.htm
Place: Missouri Botanical Garden
The Missouri Botanical Garden is closed to the public that night; so it is our chance to "dance like nobody is looking". Waltz. Walk. Waltz some more. Waltz in the fountain, waltz on the path, waltz for the roses. And they will waltz for us.
How to find us
This Flash Dance features all new venues for us.
Plan A: Here is our initial path, outlined in yellow and subject to change.
1) We’ll start in the English Woodland Garden, dancing a memorial dance near the tree we planted for Michael Cox, one of our dancers who died last year on December 11, 2008.
2) We’ll proceed to the Children’s Garden, where we’ll waltz in a cave, have a crooked boardwalk contra, waltz in an octagonal pavilion, do a tree house square, waltz in a charming gazebo and among the squirting lily pads, and have a covered bridge contra.
3) We’ll waltz in a gorgeous plaza in Mediterranean House.
4) We’ll dance a Rainforest Contra inside the Climatron.
Some of our venues will have tight space restrictions, so we’ll designate specific areas for dance bags & water bottles. (This route has easy access to drinking fountains, so you can bring less water than you usually do.)

NEW ENTRANCE
The Garden asked us to use the side entrance. As you drive onto the MBG property, make a left when you're right in front of the main building, then a quick right onto the smaller parking lot. See white "Parking".

Progressive Dance
Ever hear of a progressive dinner? Well, this is a progressive dance. We dance a few dances at each venue, then move on to the next.
What makes this place special?
How often do you get a chance to dance in one of the most beautiful gardens in the world? The Missouri Botanical Garden is a world-class facility. Even better, how often do you and fifty of your friends get to have the place to yourself?
