Flash Dance #2 - Old Post Office Plaza Park
Saturday July 11, 2009 - 12 NOON to 1:30 PM
Ever hear of “flash mobs”? They're spontaneous gatherings that bring people together on short notice for a brief period of time . Well, here's your chance to join dancers and musicians for a “flash dance” – an opportunity to waltz or contra in a public place . For more on “Flash Dances” see: http://www.childgrove.org/flashdances/flashdance_howto.htm
Where will we dance?

Here is an artist's rendering of the new Old Post Office Plaza Park
The Old Post Office Plaza Park is a park in downtown St. Louis located at the corner of 9th & Locust. There are several large gathering areas, a labyrinth complete with numerous benches, cascading steps leading to a basin, a video wall and a ramp, "Daedelus Rise," leading to a waterfall.

Who's playing and calling?

Band: Mound City Slickers
Caller: Mac McKeever
Here's a picture of the stalwart group who showed up to dance. It had rained in the morning, but was merely cloudy and humid and 88 degrees as we we danced on slanting concrete. The Mound City Slickers played many of our favorite tunes and Mac called some favorite dances. The most amazing incident of the afternoon was that Marina ran out of energy! You can see from the picture that the sun came out towards the end, and we were happy to be posing for cameras instead of dancing in the sun.Where we'll be
This is a live map. You can drag it around and zoom in and out. Click here to go to Google Maps.
Parking - there's not much parking close by. Suggest taking the Metrolink to 8th and Pine and walking the short distance to the park.
