Well, here's your chance to join dancers and musicians for a "flash dance" – an opportunity to waltz or contra in a public place . Dumbo
The stork delivers a baby elephant to Mrs. Jumbo, veteran of the circus, but the newborn is ridiculed because of his truly enormous ears and dubbed "Dumbo". Dumbo is relegated to the circus' clown acts; it is up to his only friend, a mouse, to assist Dumbo to achieve his full potential. Bring your own lawn chair and snacks. What makes this place special?
The Pool Pavilion was built in 1914 and was designed to evoke the bath facilities of Ancient Rome. This noble, colorful, columned building was restored in 1997 and is one of the most striking buildings in the park. When standing in this facility, you can look eastward and enjoy the children playing on the playground or look westward and enjoy one of the best vistas in the park , an open expansive field. Sunsets are gorgeous from this venue.
Established by Henry Shaw in 1868, Tower Grove Park (Tower Grove Park) is an elegant 19th century Victorian walking park – the largest in the world outside of England . The 290 acre park features 10 whimsical pavilions, lily ponds, statuary, fountains, and mock classical "ruins." Tower Grove Park has the greatest variety of trees and shrubs than any other urban park in the country. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Landmark, one of only four municipal parks in the country to achieve that status. It began as a treeless prairie called Prairie des Noyer, but through Henry Shaw's vision and hard work, more than 10,000 trees from across the globe were planted during the park's early years.
Where to park
The Pool Pavilion is in the center of the Park, right next to the tennis courts, the large playground, and the wading pool.
We'll be dancing on asphalt behind the Pool Pavilion.
Two parking options:
- Enter Tower Grove Park from Magnolia. Hang a quick right on the small side road and park just past the tennis courts. The Pool Pavilion is on your left, behind the tennis courts.
- Park in Tower Grove Park 's main circle, where the large flagpole is. The Pavilion is just west of there (towards Kingshighway), right next to the tennis courts and the large playground and wading pool. (If you head for the lily pads and ruins, you're going the wrong way.) The dancing and movie will be on the far side of the Pavilion.
In case of rain:
In case of rain, we'll stay quite dry as we dance in-between the Roman columns supporting this massive pavilion.

Feel free to invite other dancers, musicians, or spectators. No partner or experience necessary.
