Flash Dance #8: Circus Encore
Friday, August 19, 2005, at 5:00 pm
If you missed out on the fun on August 6, here's your Second Chance!
Ever hear of “flash mobs”? They’re spontaneous gatherings that bring people together on short notice for a brief period of time. Well, here’s your chance to join dancers and musicians for a “flash dance” – an opportunity to waltz or contra in a public place. For more on “Flash Dances” see: http://www.childgrove.org/flashdances/flashdance_howto.htm
Place: St. Louis Science Center Exploradome lobby
What makes this place Special?
When was the last time you walked across a high wire? Or swung on a flying trapeze? Or danced inside a circus tent? Come be a kid again. Few people in STL realize the Science Center is now open til 9:30 on Friday and Saturday nights.
BONUS: A Segway 101 Class - Just For Us
Here’s your chance to ride a Segway, a personal transportation device. Five gyroscopes keep you balanced and you move forward just by leaning. You may have seen them zooming through Forest Park this summer.
The class will include an introductory video, instruction, then plenty of time to practice. At the end, you’ll have your very own Segway 101 Drivers’ License so you can take advanced courses or go on tours.
It’ll probably take a couple classes before we can get 8 people to do a Segway Square Dance.
What’s a Segway? See: www.segway.com/segway/
- Time: 3:45 Arrive & Check-In; 4:00 – 5:00 Class
