January 6, 2012 - English Styling and Honking Workshop

Doors open at 7pm, workshop in the basics at 7:30pm, dance begins at 8:00pm.
music: Dance to recorded music.

Each caller gets 3 minutes to teach a dance, and another 3 minutes to teach a "style point". If they go over the 3-minute limit, they may get "honked" with a fine old brass taxi horn.

This year, we are focusing on Civil War Period dances. You are encouraged (but certainly not required!) to dress in period costume.

We've pretty much dropped the "honking" part of the Styling workshop since our callers have gottn pretty good at keeping the teaching crisp. We still emphasize style points, and the casual atmosphere makes it easy to get your questions answered!  Otherwise, we just have a good time dancing.

The Midsummer Night Ball is our newest tradition, and features Shakespearean motifs.

Its' a dress-up Ball, and we encourage you to come dressed as a character from a Shakespeare play!  However, with our without costume, we welcome your dancing presence!

COLIN HUME IN AMERICA WEEK - OCTOBER 9-15

Colin Hume, renowned caller and ECD Choreographer from England, will give a workshop in St Louis on October 9, 2012, sponsored by STL ECD. The workshop will be at Brentwood UCC, 2400 S. Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood, MO
